Harriet missed a game point, then missed 40-0* with 3 poor forehand errors before eventually breaking again, but she's done something to her finger on her right hand looks in quite a bit of discomfort.

Very well done. These courts looked sticky, slow and quite low bouncing to me. Difficult in hot conditions.

Any win welcome for Harriet, not really had her mojo for a while (let's be honest, Kasatkina was pretty awful in the US Open 1R) and she's getting dangerously close to a 3 digit ranking again so let's hope she can keep it up. Cornet likely to be tough though.

Actually, Harriet is showing as WR89 on live ankings, 40 points clear of WR100. Another win would take her back to her career high of 84.

Harriet loses a big chunk of points in 2 or 3 weeks but so do a lot of others so, as it stands, without counting points to be added in the next few tournaments, she will still just about be top 100

Yes and overall she's not roo bad after that. OER has her as live 87 on 593 points for points won this year, so looking good for being top 100 at year end

The current WR 100 in the 12 months rankings has 674 points.

She manages to be simultaneously not a million miles away but also never looking like beating this sort of level.
