This second week event at Loughborough is a J4 so, needless to say, there's a few higher ranked players here this week
According to the entry list, there should be Freddy Blaydes (top-200), as well as Fabio Nestola, Oliver Hague, Joel Gibson and Mason Dace, to swell the higher ranked players list
And similarly in the girls, Ellie Blackford, Nao Nishino, Gabia Paskauskas and Hannah Read
QR1 has finished, with Kit Henderson (7th seed) getting knocked out, as newbie and last week's dub title winner, LeonardoSantoro-Fergusson, putting out the second seed.
THere are a lot of BYES though in the girls, which is disappointing
Agree re the byes with the girls. Doesn't make sense why some get the byes and others don't. Qualifying means qualifying. I do think it could be damaging to self-belief of some if the player doesn't understand why someone who is either ranked the same as them or even lower but might get a bye. LTA are good at that, imho.
Louise Booker; Alice Wilson-Marsh; Leticia Romanova and Leena Friedman (USA)
In the main draw, there are wildcards for:
Ciara Moore; Arabella Loftus; Mika Stojsavljevic and Amalia Widdowson
In the boys the qualifiers are:
Conor Flynn; Theo Coats; Samuel Chadwick and Ryan Parkins
Only one wildcard this week, granted to Henry Searle
Strange that wildcards are being given to all the young girls, but the young cohort of boys are not included (there were no wildcards at all last week, and Henry's obviously a different kettle of fish, so to speak). I wonder if the best 14 year-olds etc didn't want to take part or are not considered good enough to warrant wildcards....
Cynical me.....I believe it's to do with whose coach is whose. It's the same old wildcards given out again and again. Also, once you back a horse, you don't want to cheer on another person horse, do you!
Congrats to Ilias Worthington for putting out the only 'pesky', a Swedish lad, seeded 8
Max Carrier also beat Mason Dace, seeded 6
Other than that, the remaining six players are all seeds
Girls:
QFs:
An excellent win for Mika S, beating the fifth seed, Dani P. Lovely to see Mika moving up the ranking list, she's well under-ranked where she is.
Scarlett P (seed 7) had to retire (against Brooke Black)
And a very big win for wildcard Ciara Moore, over Hannah Read (seeded 4)
(Can't remember who but I know we have a Ciara fan on this site so good day today )
The other seeds are safely through (Ellie B, Mia, Erin P, Gabia, and Nao (JPN)
It's me! I'm the Ciara Moore and Brooke Black fan (many other talented young players as well - probably too many to mention) and these are my tips for the future.
