Nice to see Jodie playing some doubles. With her game style any court time to do more moving forward, taking balls out the air, volleys and overheads can only be a good use of time.

Jodie served for it at *5-3, was two points away at 5-4*, and missed multiple game points at *5-5.

Jodie loses 7-5 6-1. Let it run away from her but a good week. Lots of taping across her back, shoulder and down her right arm though.

It was a strange game, Emma seemed to be doing better at everything except key points. She had twice as many break points but converted less and more set points and couldn't convert any.

More drama . Emma should have won the first sit easily and now seems injured . Friedsam did get lucky with a net chord which saved a set point but overall this has been dreadful stuff from Emma who mentally looks fragile and once again looks like blowing a good opportunity.

The slight thigh injury might be a godsend - assuming it is slight....
Emma is now coming to the net, playing aggressively ie trying to avoid lots of running around and - so far - it's working well in the second set
