Jabeur missed a great opportunity to take it to a third set and really test the nerves of Swiatek who might have had that missed match point on her mind .
At least the final didnt end up a rout which looked possible at 6-2 3-0 with break points for Swiatek .
It would have been great to see Jabeur win but sadly not to be .

Ons lost in both the singles finals of Wimbledon and the US Open in the same year. This was the 7th time this has happened in the 21st century. Previously it happened to Lindsay Davenport in 2000, Venus in 2002, Justine Henin in 2006, Vera Zvonareva in 2010 and Serena in 2018 and 2019. Going back to 1946 most women players who this has happened to have won at least 1 Grand Slam singles. The exceptions are Zvonareva and Ons.
Starting in 1995 there has been 28 US Open finals and on 27 occasions whoever has won the first set has won the final. The exception was 2020 when Osaka beat Azarenka having lost the first set. In general in the womens Grand Slams whoever wins the first set tends to win the match. Unfortunately that was not the case for Ons at Wimbledon.
