Players have to fight their way through a gruelling 4 rounds of qualifying to make the main draw this week. There are plenty of Brits involved but no Alan Wright
Pierre Clad's opponent is ranked 601 so I reckon that Pierre will do well to avoid a whitewash. James Ward will be favourite as his opponent is unranked and has never won a main draw match. Unfortunately James is in the same section as 2nd seed Van der Dum and they're due to play in rd4 so unless he produces the match of his life it looks like he may be relying on a lucky loser spot coming up. 17 year old Oscar Podlewski had a good round 1 win and has a great chance of reaching rd3 as he faces another unranked opponent. Oscar could face the 15th seed in rd3 but the 15th seed is only ranked 1309. He has a better chance of qualifying than James Ward as the 7th seed is the highest ranked in Oscar's section [ranked 934] and Oscar has beaten players with rankings in the 900s in previous Spanish futures qualifying events.
