Week 34 US Open Qualifying

Bad Q spots (against seeds) - half of them.
Kvitova, Pegula, Azarenka, Rybakina, Sabalenka, Gauff, Garcia, Krejcikova

No Q v Q's so the rest are pot luck

Yeah the qualifier placements seem particularly bad this year!

Although of course Emma was originally drawn into a tricky slot before Brady withdrew....

Really looking forward to this US Open but I will be very surprised if it entertains me as much as the last one did. Go Team GB!

Play suspended for rain - with Fruhvirtova about to serve for a place in the main draw. Heather is next match on that court.

The junior who beat Katie Boulter has now won her FQR and made the main draw

She was playing some pretty decent stuff at times. I also watched some of the Noskova match and she looked very decent at times too. There just seems to be a conveyer belt of Czech talent that appears almost endless.

Not that long a suspension after all. They finished that match and Heather has started, but play has stopped at *0-0 40-Ad. And off they go........

Heather was broken but immediately broke back. On serve since.

3-2*

The issue Bejlek has is her forehand cross going in to Heather's backhand. Heather's very comfortable with her early play patterns - keep angling the backhand wider and then down the line. The youngster already getting a bit frustrated with herself with errors.

*4-2
