Some good draws, some tricky draws. Good luck to all.

Garcia Perez, Melnikova and Ferro all struggling with, or since returning from, injury. Although the latter obviously has a lot of class in her locker, and we don't know Katie's condition really.

Jodie is in a really tricky section, will need to bring out all her good form from recent weeks.

Our girls aren't on tomorrow's schedule.

That's pretty much as good as one could have realistically hoped for, I reckon

There can't be any complaints with that....

Not  British players but a timing issue because  Ana Bogdan  currently 65 in the world and Lin Zhu  currently 74  both have to qualify.

It was at the French championships held in the autumn of 2020 where Ferro then ranked in the top 50 beat Heather in the 1st round and Rybakina in the 2nd round. She lost in the 4th round to the eventual runner up Kenin.

No Katie Swan in qualifying. Does anyone know why? She would have been high enough to have made the qualifiers by ranking, so not sure why she isn't here.

She's been injured. Had a week's rehab at TCU before flying to London.

Injured or not, she wouldn't have made it. She would have 4 out had she not withdrawn. Last in is WR229. Katie had entered with WR234.

229 seems a strong entry cut off, is that higher/better than normal?

Highest since 2015 when it was also 229

2015: 229
2016: 240
2017: 247 (PR)
2018: 235
2019: 244
2021: 265
2022: 229 (PR)

Eta: quite a lot of PR this year - 6 in MD and 8 in Q

Thanks Lambda, quite a dramatic improvement even on pre Covid. Increased prizeMoney probably helps?

Might be wrong but I can't believe anyone didn't go previously just because the prize money was a couple of grand less - it's still miles more than most things they enter

The injury argument, and PRs, seems likely, along with normal variance

I don't see any reason why all five girls shouldn't win

But, for disappointment insurance, I've stuck 10p on all the opponents, as (apart from Jodie) our players are the clear favourites in all matches and so the odds are quite decent for the others

I hope to be 50p poorer !

I think I'm very low on their priorities biggrin

(and nothing illegal about a little flutter (for an outsider) - 'little' being the operative word here biggrin)
