On course for a double bagel against the 3rd seed.

I see that Arantxa Rus WR 84 is scavenging yet more points from a 25k despite there being other opportunities at higher level tournaments. This really should not be allowed, it's not he home tournament, she's just taking the absolute p***

Oh and

R2: BROGAN, Anna (GBR) 477 (CH=476 2022) DEF MATEAS, Maria (USA) (8) 407 (CH=284 2018) 6-0 6-1

I think it's the sign of being well-brought up to at least allow your opponent ONE game smile

Doesnt the womens game have a rule that stops players playing down this far? Seems unfair that she should be allowed to.

No. The only play down rules in the women's game are top 50 players at the entry deadline are not allowed to enter 125Ks, although players ranked 11 to 50 can play a 125K with a WC. Ridiculously Swiatek could play a 15K if she wanted to.

Rus won 10 25k in 2019. It's shameful

I think Rus isnt a good traveller, Im sure she pretty much always plays in Europe unless its Slams. That might explain it if you look where she plays.

Rus also trains and lives in Spain and prefers to play closer to home. Dont think theres anything wrong with that, shes got a living to make and maximising her ranking.

It's very hard to make a living as a player - if she's allowed to play the events, I wouldn't knock her for doing so

Yes, got to earn a living like say switching pretty much full time to doubles if singles just isn't working out.
