Decent match - fair score - certainly not a one-way show

As you didn't give the score we'll have to take your word for that

Sorry - slip up - but, yes, Indy has added the score - 3 & 2

The Naiktha/Freya match was very close - Naiktha won 6-4 3-6 6-4 - but far better tennis from Freya - she seems to be actually hitting the ball again - nice to have an all-Brit match where both players need wins so it's always going to be good....

Really great to see Marni doing well - she's been a little fave for ages but had injuries and Lord knows what - do so hope she's now clear and free

You do get the impression that these 25ks were originally put on for the likes of Katie B, Katie Swan, Jodie, Sonay, Sam Murray but these have all moved upwards.

There seems to be a new bunch that need to break into the top 550 and gain direct entry as realistically we have Anna Brogan, Naiktha Bains and possibly Beth Grey as direct entries.

It would be good to see the like of Freya, Jasmine, Marni, Talia, Maia, Katy D and the good juniors break through and get direct entry, so we can push the next batch through wildcards/qualis

Absolutely. Would be brilliant to get more strength in depth at the 550 level and there seems enough talent there to make it a possibility. It's a great opportunity for some of the younger girls to play at this level without having to travel.

Yes, it's been great to have these tournaments this year; I can see no mention of any in the Autumn, but they've put on a great number... I wonder what the LTA will be thinking for next year. I do also wonder if we lose quite a few of our female 300-800 players to the college route, never to reappear.

Just looking at the respective ITF schedules for British events, the ITF calendar now has the following up:

w.c. 17th October - M25 Glasgow

Womens -

w.c. 17th October - W60 Glasgow

w.c. 24th October - Loughborough

w.c. 31st October - W100 Shrewsbury

Ah that's exciting!

However, on the women's side, this showcases the lack of steer from the ITF to ensure a balanced calendar - in each of those weeks, there are 60/80k events going on elsewhere in the world, when we have several weeks after the US open where there is only one 25k and nothing else! It seems like the ITF have no control at all over the calendar and just let it happen according to countries' whims. Very bizarre.
