Wow this is so good to see. Ive not been following anything other than the WTA events recently but I just stumbled upon this match and it is great to see two British girls in the final. I am so optimistic about what some of our girls could do next year.
Lumsden should hopefully be up there as well.

I only watched the last few points - I really didn't care who won - so happy for both to be there and their chance
But I'd have a tiddly flutter on Katie because, from yesterday, she was playing SO well, really playing with intent on the attack AND defending well too - best I've seen her play in years.
So happy for her. Jodie's in good form, that's great, but Katie really deserves an uninterrupted period of good health to make her mark, and let's hope it's now....

Jodie is up to GB #3 for 2022 counting ranking points, just ahead of Heather - details in the 'WTA race' figures on OER ( these are not the true WTA race figures since that only counts WTA tour but by counting WTA 125 and ITF as well it serves as a very useful running total for 2022 ranking points ).

Also interesting as a guide to how things are currently shaping up in our 2022 predictions contest ( with all pre 2022 points due to be out of the official rankings by this year end ) with in particular Emma clearly very much closer to the pack for 2022 points only.

Re qualifying, no it's a week too late. Katie would have been well in based on her updated ranking. But the qualifying entry list is already out based on the 01/08 rankings with a current cut-off of 218 as against Katie's entry ranking of 234. So it's now a waiting game re how far the cut-off goes out with withdrawals and WCs.

In addition to Emma and Harriet in the MD, we currently have 5 that have made the qualifying list: Heather, Katie B, Jodie, Lily and Sonay.

Being 173 should easily be enough to get in qualifying .
