Yes, what Talia's mum simply said (correctly) was that in the last 3 Nottingham W25s ( 2 in April and last week ) Talia was beaten by the eventual winner. She could have added that the W25 final in Birmingham in February that she lost to Sonay made it 4 W25s in a row losing to the winner. It happens quite often in the forum that someone adds such context after some orhers' comments and this is invariably interesting and useful.
Talia has in that time also played in the Surbiton W100 and Wimbledon qualifying to players that didn't go all the way or qualify at Wimbledon, and her mum indeed never suggested anyone that beat Talia had a very good week but again purely gave some context to a good number of her losses since Birmingham.

Yeh for Ali G - no, not that one, but our own Alice Gillan - brilliant victory 6-4 in the third
So pleased for her
As her mum says, anyone who beats Talia has a very good week....
Nowhere did I say or imply that. Thanks for the opportunity of allowing me to join The forum however, I feel this will be my last post. Enjoy the tennis
Thats a shame , Jng , it was interesting to get your thoughts and I wish Talia all the best.
fellow Forumites, we seem to be on a bit of a run, dont we. 2 in 2 days. Not v good optics.
Indeed Jon. Please follow forum members, I know things can come across not quite as meant. But with new members to the forum can folk please take more care to avoid squabbling, saying things that can be taken the wrong way or misquoting. First impressions and all that ...
Once they are much more firmly ensconced and got to know us, yes maybe sometimes take the proverbial.

Its a shame you feel that way. I am relatively new to the forum and sometimes get nervous about posting. Passive aggressive comments like this do not help. It is why I choose to remain anonymous unlike yourself - which is quite brave in an online forum. My eldest daughter stopped competing because she could not deal with the pressure and scrutiny and its much worse now with social media, the internet, betting, etc. I do know a lot of the younger players through friends and family and enjoy following their journeys. Hopefully you will continue to follow the forum and contribute in future as it makes it a much more interesting proposition to get a more holistic view of tennis and the tournaments, other than just watching the livescores and making assumptions.

Sorry but both these new posters were defensive and a little aggressive. I have a general rule on forums to just follow quietly in the background until I get a handle on personalities and types of posting. It serves me quite well. If Talia progresses enough to get a post on TF in GM, her mum would be very wise to avoid it, we are pussycats compared to that forum.

I think we should cut someone a bit of slack when others are talking about their own child. We're all a bit more defensive about our own. And I've seen you get quite punchy on the forum if someone offends you, so I don't think it's fair to judge others for being the same.
The scores finally came up on the other sites. I can't get ITF live score to work, all I get is a line endlessly going round four sides of a square.
I often have to reload the ITF Live Scores site. They seem more interested in downloading adverts than tennis scores - way of the world.
I have just clicked on the link and a list of tournaments appeared. That is the first time that has ever happened. I have tried numerous times in the past and always got the message about loading tournaments, with the line endlessly going round the four sides of a square. I tried a 2nd time and it worked again. I tried a third time and I got the rotating line. Weird!

Very interesting points, Tennisdad - especially as you've stood out in the juniors section as a very vocal advocate for Talia. Indeed - this forum has awarded Talia the accolade of a personal 'Individual Player Thread' - it's our highest award And she certainly hasn't got one on TF....
And emmsie too....
Just for interest, I've been PM-ed by several parents of juniors, usually to 'complain' that I don't rate their child (as though that's worth diddly-squat in the first place). I've explained politely that we all wish all the players the absolute best, we're never rude, especially to juniors, but that we are allowed to say 'I don't rate him/her' or 'his/her results have been a little disappointing, given last year' or whatever. And if they'd like to add context or counter-opinion, that's brilliant.
I've also acted to try and appease - no one wants to upset people. One parent also didn't like the fact that another poster mainly, and me sometimes, referred to their child in a certain way - IMO it 100% wasn't offensive but if they didn't like it, then OK. So I stopped and I PM-ed the other person (a strong-minded individual) and politely asked them to do the same, which - of course - they did.
I've also had a delightful correspondence with one parent (not that it changes how I view their child) and correspondence with another that has led to direct, actual help for that player.
