Em and Ingrid *3-5 down, having lost all 3 deuce points. Twice broken from *40-30. So competitive, but just not able to win these mini battles that would have got them in front.

Great game from Em to get it to 6-6, but they play a poor tiebreak. (2)6-7

Yeah that break to love contained some of the best tennis I've seen from Em. Far too many errors in the tiebreak though, really didn't make their opponents work hard enough for it.

Great effort though. McNally is top 20.

QF:- Ingrid Gamarra Martins (BRA) v Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) CR457 (224+233) LOST TO Catherine Mcnally (USA) / Anna Kalinskaya CR85 (17+68) [4] (2)6-7 2-6

They lose 7-6(2) 6-2. Played pretty well. But again both times they were broken in the second it was from *40-30 up so they were always right in it. Just had to close out a couple more of those games but often the power of their opponents proved too much.

60 very nice points though.

Thought that was Emma R playing doubles there briefly for a moment. Her R16 match is well underway, fast start to go 3-0 / 4-1* up, and currently in a lengthy game at *4-2 where she's had to save a few BPs. Feels like a big game in the set.

And back on serve after BP #4, 4-3*.

Emma doing another good job of getting herself into trouble for no reason. Had a point for *5-1, broken in a long game.

4-3*

Rapidly descending into amateur hour here. All the basics totally fallen apart.

Lordy, I've just come in to watch, at 4-2, and since then, Emma has not really taken on a single ball - she let's it drop, she backs up....it's just weird....

The wheels have completely come off with Emma playing very passive tennis . I will be shocked if she turns this match around but hope she surprises me!

I put it on at pretty much the same time, our fault obviously. Emma's getting a bit of help here, I think that's 2 DFs on set point now from Osorio, who looks to have one hell of a cough.

Three double faults in the 'serve out the set' game from Osorio

The poor coaches of both players are probably working their way through those Rennie tablets at the rate of knots....

ADD: Nah, it's not our fault, Ace - we're not taking the rap for this.....

And then she started to hit through the ball a bit more - made a few UEs but they were 'good' UEs - one nasty DF which was against the run of play as her second serve had been pretty much her best bit up till then - and finally she got the TB by being the player more on the front foot....

My goodness. Shambolic play to go down 3-5*, nice touch at the end of a very nervy point, then she decides to actually hit the ball properly and steams through the final couple of points!

I wouldn't be shaking Camila's hand at the end of this, that's a very covidy looking cough!!
