Is it just me who has a good feeling about this girl in 2024?
Do so hope you're right....
She's been a little fave for years - I've had her in my top-10 predictions at least once, maybe twice - and I remember quotes from some of the people at her Spanish base saying everyone there thinking she was absolutely the real deal
BUT her injuries have been so ongoing and, without any inside info, I'm not sure there's an end in sight.... she's in the Katie Swan group for me - so much potential but so difficult to achieve it if you're out for three months at a stretch half the time
Does any body know what her support status is with the LTA? I know she used to train at the NTC most of the time but I dont think this has been the case this past year and it looks like it could be for the better judging by her recent form. Im just wondering if she may be out of favour as I have read on other posts that players who get support are entitled to so many wild cards per year, and as far as I can see Marni has only received 1 this past year which was at Shrewsbury. I may be adding 2 & 2 together and coming up with something different but Im just really curious about this.
I know Indiana and coup droit have followed her since she was 13 and others have also mentioned about that match against Emma R at 13 years old(that lasted 13 hours and every rally was minimum 50 shots!!!
Im out of touch with the system and how it all works but Im trying to learn so any info would be great.

That's some really nice progression since the start of the year, showing some consistency in getting to the later stages of multiple tournaments (rather than one very big result surrounded by lots of not so good events). Well done!
It isn't accepting donations at the moment. I have messaged Katy to check up on it.
ETA - the fundraising is on hold at the moment as it appears that Marni still has a chance to get PSP funding from the LTA by the end of the year. If that doesn't happen then Katy will resurrect it.

Although I'm always sympathetic to the plight of players trying to make a living, Marni did make the FQR at Wimbly this year, which is £40k (although the WTA site seems to have it listed as $40k)
Yes, the WTA site shows Marni has won $55k so far this year. Compare that with Sonay ($161k), Fran ($141k), Beth ($41k) and Katy D ($24k) to name a few. Doesnt look too shabby, does it.
I appreciate that the expenses can be high and mount up rapidly, but also we don't know about her circumstances. Without the money from Wimbledon it certainly doesn't look enough.
