Is Alicia at college?

Disappointing from Eden after her good grass season. She is playing a 60k in Spain next week, then a 25k in Texas the week after, so hopefully she will improve there.

Good luck to Eliz!

Yes Alicia is at Florida, mostly playing number 3-4.

Eliz's good day and Eden's bad day continue in the doubles. A good win for Naiktha and Maia over the top seeds as well.
Results and semi-final line-up to follow after the other two matches are completed.

Yes, and loving it over there, according to her - good people, nice uni - all good

And whoever her trainer/team is, they've done an amazing job with her tennis - as a junior, she had a nice serve and a hard, flat shot but her movement and fitness is miles better now, and hence her defence, and her attack has so much more precision

I went to the NTC today and Alicia's match was probably the stand-out match in the women's

She played really well - and Jo Garland completely changed her game in the second set, played a real 'thinking' set of tennis, and had the upper hand in the third. And then had a little wobble and Alicia was right back in it - at 4-4, she was 40-0 up, but didn't manage to hold serve. And then, as Jo served for it, Dudeney had break back points but couldn't manage it

Real shame as Garland was just beginning to look edgy and anxious (and lots of looks to her corner for support/help)

However, it was a great show by Alicia - and she seemed happy enough 10 mins afterwards, which was nice to see

Eden's match goes down as the most ridiculous match of the day - Eden was SO cruising, winning SO comfortably, and then her concentration flickered, she tried just to kill the ball instead of thinking her way out, Eliz obviously never goes away, and suddenly it's all topsy-turvy. Honestly, you can't play tennis and lose a match like that.....

The other match that really got away was Naiktha's but it was a good, hard fight in the first two sets - it certainly doesn't rival Eden's match for most wasted opportunity. Naiktha played strong tennis against a young Dutch-French girl who the FFT quite rate - but you were never confident that she was going to hold on in the second - the first had been touch and go, and Naiktha was almost looking for a reason to have a bit of a meltdown - and there was no real contest in the third

Indy Spink put out an honest display, some nice winners, especially in the second set, but was out-classed overall and the score was fair. Good to see her and Alicia showcasing the US college players, though

Emma W was never really in it

Kudos to 17 year-old Kruger who slugged it out with Sun and came out on top.....she did well to close that out

NB For people who like to know what our players are up to, just to report that Sonay Kartal, Katie Swan and Jodie Burrage were all at the NTC today, training (probably), and certainly looking fit, active and 'happy'

There was also a group of our younger players who were certainly training - Isabelle Lacy, Mimi, Hannah Klugman, various blonde girls who could have been Talia or Ruby Cooling (not too sure, they were a bit too far off to be certain)

Just to add to that, Katie B is on holiday (with Alex) in Capri and Heather is in Greece. I reckon they deserve a break before the US swing starts.

Were they on the clay? Could be getting ready for European champs?

To be honest, I don't know

They all came past the main courts, heading up to the north end of the NTC

And then all came back an hour/two hours later

I didn't actually see them playing or the court they were on

I don't actually know where the clay courts are at the NTC - if they're up at the northern edge, then sounds well possible

Naiktha and Maia's win was very much in keeping with their grass form together this season, and their efforts at Wimbly.

Bookies' odds were completely wrong - thankfully

Refused to watch any more of Eden today so no idea how that went down really

Lauryn JB is handy in doubles, and Kat S plays a solid game too

NB Wonderful to see Emma Raducanu's big silver US Open trophy at the NTC

They've got it in a display cabinet in the entrance lobby, along with Joe Salisbury's doubles champion silver platter thingy, and a trophy for one of the wheelchair champions

Nice big glass cabinet, with three shelves (I think), one for each, against the window so the light catches them - looks really nice

Are those the actual trophies the players were presented with or are they replicas you are given to keep?

I'm sure they're not the real trophy - the real ones stay at the site, no? i.e. the US Open Women's trophy that Emma won is still in New York, and never moves

These must be the replicas - but the US Open is really good in that its replicas are full size, and high quality, and look just like the real thing
