Was Spink a contemporary of Emma's in the junior ranks? Could she be one to watch when she turns pro?

First match since May for Angelica. Not a bad showing against Baines, hâd momentum at 6-5 second set but couldnt quite close it out. Hopefully gets at least a qualy wc for Nottingham. Probably could do With having to work through qualifying , tough ask for her first competitive match for some time.

Good win for Eliz though her beating Eden and Naiktha's subsequent defeat means that we have lost our 2 seeds before the QF stage.

Good to see that thumping first set score by Alicia over Joanna Garland.

Alicia doing a great job, now a break up in the second. Emma has had a slow start in her match.

Q Alicia Dudeney GBR 6-1 *2-1 Joanna Garland TPE
Q Emma Wilson GBR *0-3 [3] Justina Mikulskyte LTE

Yeah, below par event as it stands, and would need Eliz to probably get to the final (certainly the SF) for it to be considered decent. A promising start to the day with Alicia and Naiktha both taking their respective first sets (you could probably include Eden in that too from a 'neutral' GB perspective), but losing both (top 8) seeds before the QF stage isn't great. Two fab wins for Eliz though, a significant underdog today, but also a betting underdog in her R1 match against the lower ranked American who I'd never heard of. She plays Ruby and Emma's conqueror next.
