Girls: J1 Roehampton, grass (Week 26)

Although there is a strong entry as usual for this 64 draw event it is weaker than the boys' event, and a couple of (I assume) late main draw withdrawals caused Brits to take the places of the top 2 qualifying seeds.  Add to that a couple of good wins for Sofia Johnson and Issey Purser over minor seeds and we are guaranteed at least 2 qualifiers. Jaquelyn Ogunwale and Millie Skelton both claimed wins over top 100 ranked players.  Already in the main draw are Ranah Stoiber and Ella McDonald, while likely wildcard recipients are Isabelle Lacy, Mimi Xu, Talia Neilson Gatenby, Hephzibah Oluwadare, Hannah Klugman, Ruby Cooling and Jasmine Conway.

Draws are available here (main draw takes place tomorrow evening)

Qualifying now complete with Millie claiming a second win over a seed ranked around 100, while Sofia Johnson and Sarah Tatu won the all British encounters.. So 4 Brits join Ranah, Ella and the wildcards

Well done to Millie

That was a comprehensive loss from Given Roach, against Sofia, who is completely unranked at the moment in juniors (and adults)

I don't know Sofia Johnson at all - she seems a tall girl who's now over in the US at college and doing well?

Good on her - I've never been a great fan of Given's (although I know others like paulisi disagree) but I'd be curious to see Sofia play, especially now....

Live scores from a growing number of courts are available here  Hannah has just started and Mimi is warming up (most of the first tranche of matches were missed by the live scoring system)

Millie Skelton ended up with a Lucky Loser, only it wasn't so lucky (for her) as she got Mathilde Ngijol-Carré (FRA), who won Les Petits As last autumn.

Millie lost in two sets

The tranche of results missed by live scoring are now in - disappointingly Hep, Jaquelyn and Talia all lost.

One more British win as Sofia comes from behind.Meanwhile Ella came from losing a bagel first set to the top seed to having at least one matchpoint at 5-3 in the third. Hovde has held and broken back though for 5-5
