 We were always taught that holding serve in doubles is a function of the net player

Which has certainly been relevant here at times 

But either way, it's been terribly close - but very good watching

So Lissey Barnett is the only British woman left in Wimbledon in the mixed doubles, I believe. Sort of fell away to the end but shouldnt disguise a good event and grass season overall.

to be honest, I'd rather they recover now, and get ready for the hardcourt season. I'm optimistically hoping (I mean why not) that that we could have 5 women in the top 100 by the end of the year, with Sonay/Lily/Katie S pushing further

I assume you are talking about singles, since the three you mention are a long way from making top 100 in doubles.
