Weeks 26 and 27 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - women's doubles

Doing better than well - they take the first set on their fourth set point 6-3.
Looking just as good as if not better than their experienced opponents.

Shame about Lissey smacking Liv in the head with one of her serves on set point #2 but they got there!

Yes - and that was one of the better serves biggrin

Naiktha and Maia look outclassed by the 8th seeds.

And just when Liv & Liss get broken, and the score is rather racing, the Romanian girl plays an awful service game, two horrid double faults, and we're back on serve.....

Naiktha and Maia had a spirited late run - broke back, held well, played some real crowd-pleasing points - not enough to change the result, but made the score a lot more respectable and will give them some bits to look back on and enjoy

Overall, they're £10k richer each, and had a good show here, playing some very nice doubles (as well as some pretty dodgy stuff too)

Lissey's serve went completely AWOL at the end of that second set - which was not too surprising - she's looked really cross with it throughout - and, tbh, Olaru's serve has been equally dodgy

But it's now into a third set..... :(

Yeah shame they couldn't hold after breaking back.

But they've recouped the break in the third

*2-3

Broke for *4-3, broken, missed a break point.

*4-5

A phenomenal effort this. However it goes in the next 5-10 minutes.

SUCH a shame they missed that one super chance to hold on when they'd broken

But now 5-5 and all square

R1:- Harriet Dart (GBR) / Heather Watson (GBR) CR239 (130+109) [WC] def Emina Bektas (USA) / Kristina Kucova (SVK) CR538 (85+453) 6-2 6-4

Next opponents aren't known yet as they are still running behind schedule and their likely opponents Ostapenko and Kichenok haven't played their second round match yet.
