Yes it shows what can happen when wild cards are given to pairs who play together regularly rather than to hastily cobbled together pairs of singles players. Appleton and Collins much more deserving of a wild card than at least a couple of the other British pairs.

Completely agree with you. Giving some of these wild cards to a British pairing who never hardly ever play together and overlook a pair who are playing week in and week out trying to improve is just wrong. Give these plays that opportunity.

I know there are different sides to this but I certainly wouldn't have given Ali C and Emily App a wildcard over and above any of those who already got one
There's no comparison with Liv and Lissey who are nearly top-100, playing tour events and doing well. Ali and Emily are about 330 or so, only at 60k level, at best, and not winning much.
Nor are they singles players that you'd want to give a boost to, Wimbledon experience, net matches etc. Which is a perfectly valid reason for doubles wildcards, IMO.
However, I would have given them a wildcard over and above just not using it and throwing it back into the pack (but then I'd have given one to Emily WS or a whole host of people, to be honest, before I'd do that)
NB Thought Naiktha was playing brilliantly, and Maia playing well too - as before, Naiktha seems to relax and love the movement forwards of doubles - an enjoyable match - pleased for them
Out of interest do people know for a fact that players not at Wimbledon were not offered WC or is it possible that they were offered them but chose not to take them up. I've seen a lot of criticism over the last few weeks and it might be justified, on the other hand it might be the players choice, particularly with no points on offer. The singles offers decent prize money but the doubles would be more marginal as to whether there was a benefit to playing for money or playing elsewhere for points.
Lissey had the complete yips serving for the set - barely got a first serve - her ball toss was all over the place - she looked SO uptight - but somehow the two of them eventually got it done
