Completely agree with Nick K on this - players should not be able to be coached on court, work it out themselves. That is part of the game. And it creates an uneven playing field - the top players will get an input from a consistent, week in week out coach, the lower players may not even have a coach with them.

Sadly enough of that (minus the dressing up bit) goes on anyway Maybe allow at adult matches only?

At the higher levels on court coaching happens to an extent anyway (eg Sillyfuss and his dad), so why not just legitimise it and see how it goes?

But do you allow coaches to use AI/algorithms to track play and allow the coach to pass on in-depth analysis during the match ? (examples of algorithms posted in my link below)

my concern with all that is having a level playing field. WR 145 playing WR 5, the higher ranked guy will have more resources and a better coach, probably, the lower guy may not have a coach or resources. It creates a potential imbalance. I would much rather they came down hard on coaching than allowing it.

It feels like the Americans attitude to gun atrocities - rather than banning the gun, the Supreme Court is effectively saying let everyone have more guns...

IMO the playing field isnt level at the moment, there is already an imbalance in resources. The higher ranked player probably has a better support network (coach(es), physio, sports analyst, nutritionist etc) plus can afford to have the support group travelling with them.

Interesting to watch some of the college matches, where on court coaching is allowed. Some of the coaches are hanging around the baseline and commenting after every point and others mostly leave the player to get on with it. I asked my son and he said he wasnt bothered either way. He said its going on anyway, so might as well make it legal.

Of course there isn't a level playing field as it is. That's no reason to go with a change that in many people's opinion will make it more uneven.
