Week 25 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - women's qualifying

It looked unfortunately like the match tiebreak had rather ran away from Ella, with Coco dramatically improving when it mattered. A fantastic effort though, saving 6(!!) MPs in a row at the end.

[2] Coco Vandeweghe USA d. WC Ella McDonald GBR 5-7 6-1 7-6 (10-8)

Great effort from Ranah though, breaking back when Zavatska served for it...

Stoiber 3-6 5-5* Zavatska

Incredible TB!!
Shame that Coco hardly shook hands at the end.

Yeah I thought that was a really needlessly snarky handshake.

Aww

But fantastic effort from Ella in I think the one match that no-one here called as a potential British win.

Took her opportunity in the play-offs then so close to a memorable win today.

Ella and her team should be very proud.

Coco not so much

Goodness. Coco was diabolical. Well done Ella, fought so hard and after the last time hugely impressed. Shame she didn't stick the volley at 8-9* though to make it extra interesting!

Disappointed in Coco's response, of course be horrified with yourself but show some respect to the opponent at the net.

Ranah into a tiebreak and Anna hanging on in her second set.

Stoiber 3-6 6-6 (*1-0) Zavatska
Sanders 7-6(2) *4-4 Brogan

Not the first time that Coco has been extremely self centred and not respected the opposition.

That infamous time when she wouldn't properly warm up was maybe a case in point.

Anna edged out in a tight match - Sanders won the important points

Storm Sanders AUS d. WC Anna Brogan GBR 7-6(2) 6-4

But Ranah battles her way to a third set when Zavatska dumps a routine volley in the net...

Stoiber 3-6 7-6(5) *0-0 Zavatska

Coco is officially off my Christmas card list. What a crappy attitude to show (let alone to a junior)

Dreadful volley miss from Zavatska and we're going 3. Excellent fight back from Ranah.

Good effort from Anna. The money will be a huge boost to her, deserved pay day.
