Week 25 - WTA500 - Eastbourne, Great Britain Grass

Some nice comments about Jodie after the match from Annabelle Croft.

Harriet playing some very smart tennis and mixing up her play nicely. She falls short of breaking Marta again after six (?) BPs, but is still a break up. Really impressive to get to this point.

Dart GBR 6-4 2-6 *4-3 Kostyuk UKR

Yeah playing well but should have got the break there again. Real battle.

Anyone else thought Harriet's ball at 30-30 (and 4-4) was long?

Well, apart from Kostyuk, and me, that is?

Apols if this has already been mentioned, but noted that the commentator on Prime mentioned that Jodie started working with a new coach 6 weeks ago. Could be coincidental but potentially a factor in her improved mindset etc?

Prior to the grass-court season she was losing on clay to players ranked around 200-300 (eg Rome W60 she lost to Di Guiseppi WR272 in the first round). I'm sure it is not a coincidence, but the change of coach and surface has worked miracles and she is starting to realise her potential. She also seems much more mature in her inteviews. It's all about confidence !

I wasn't concentrating properly as I am watching Harriet at the same time. Did they say Jodie's coach was Craig Beale ? (Definitely Craig ....)

According to her Instagram its Craig Veal

He certainly seems to have beefed up her results. Maybe her calves have got stronger?

Curse you, I was about to post the beefing up her game joke furious

So far 16 games have gone against service and 11 with service. It could still go either way but Harriet has the advantage of being *5-4 up in the final set. We just need this to be the 12th game going with service.

I've replayed it several times, and I think it caught the back of the line - maybe 2cm

It looked out live but the replay slower I think it was just clipping the line.

Amazing run for Harriet.
