Fabulous win from Jodie today - amazing when you think that at the end of last month, she had never beaten a top 100 player in a WTA-ranked event and it was looking like she might never get into the top 200 after so many near-misses. Now she has not only broken into the top 200 with room to spare, she's going to be top 150 (also with a bit of room to spare) next Monday and she has won against top 100 players four times in three weeks (1-21 June), today becoming only the sixth British player ever to beat at least one WTA top 4 player after Virginia Wade, Sue Barker, Johanna Konta (all of whom beat world no. 1s), Jo Durie (whose career best ranking scalp was 4 and who, like the first three, made the top 5 herself) and Laura Robson!
On top of that, she's the biggest story on a day where two or three other results would have been very big stories in past year!

Amazing last couple of weeks for Jodie. I was at Eastbourne on Monday and saw her turn it around against Martic. I was also there the previous year and saw her through away a match she should have won. Her mental attitude is chalk and cheese compared to that day.
She actually has a real opportunity here. OK she has played 7 matches in 7 days but her opponent today has played just as much if not more lately.
And a win would set up Tsurenko or Linette which is about as good as it gets in QF of a 500 event.
Apols if this has already been mentioned, but noted that the commentator on Prime mentioned that Jodie started working with a new coach 6 weeks ago. Could be coincidental but potentially a factor in her improved mindset etc?

Prior to the grass-court season she was losing on clay to players ranked around 200-300 (eg Rome W60 she lost to Di Guiseppi WR272 in the first round). I'm sure it is not a coincidence, but the change of coach and surface has worked miracles and she is starting to realise her potential. She also seems much more mature in her inteviews. It's all about confidence !

That's quite a record with the new coach! Mind you, if they were Emma's coach they'd be on borrowed time.
Who were and are her coaches?

Would you Adam and Eve it? Katie comes back to take the first set, Harriet wraps up her match, three girls through to the Last 16...... Katie half way to the quarters.....
Great finish to that set from Katie. Was very important to keep it to one break and she weathered the storm, and when Kvitova dropped her level a tiny bit she was calm and took advantage. Really mature confident set. So impressed.
