So Phoenix just not playing on the grass then? Surely he'd be in line for a WC or two?
Yes...... I'd wondered last week if he were just jetting therefor a week (which wouldn't have been that impressive, really). So maybe good that he's staying - BUT why??? As you say, he would get a MD WC for junior Wimbly surely, and other events - seems very strange to go and play a hard court event.
I can half understand Matilda Mut's decision - assuming it's so - to stick to clay events - it's a classic learning progression choice, part of a bigger development thing, and might be linked to injury too.
But to forego home events for hard court stuff in Mexico seems very weird....

And he is on the entry list for the J1 Nottingham next week as well, back here on grass
Very strange, considering the energy it saps you with jetlag, etc, not to mention the surface change. Not great prep for a big/influential (in terms of sponsorship etc) time of the year.
Phoenix hasn't entered the doubles, presumably so he can return to the UK as soon as he exits the singles, but agree that his scheduling is surprising. Regarding other grass season entrants, I note that one of our two eligible WTA ranked girls who have more or less given up juniors has entered some events, Jasmine Conway, but not Matilda Mutavdzic as indicated by CD
Agree seems an unusual choice for Phoenix to be in Mexico during the grass season. Would have hoped hed have been awarded a wildcard into the playoffs for the mens Wimbledon qualifiers too as hes a very exciting prospect. There may be some reasoning behind it regarding junior points. Also not sure how this works with his GCSEs as hes the same academic year as Henry Searle, Isabelle and Talia.

Good point re: GCSEs as they don't finish until 23rd June.
In the end this thread has proved academic in more than one way. Phoenix gave a w/o (puzzlingly not replaced by a lucky loser seemingly). No idea if there is an injury or communication breakdown - he is still on the Nottingham list for next week though.
