Yikes. Wow. Well done her.

4-6 7-5 6-3, rather hints Lissey might have had a chance to wrap it up in two...

Pity for Lissey. But quite a nice combination of Q WC winners with one going to the best player there and the other a bit of a surprise that may encourage others to go for it in the future.

I know she's a favourite on this forum but I'm delighted that Alicia lost to Ella. I couldn't see her beating anyone at GS qualifying level, and as she now seems to be focussed on doubles giving her a singles WC would, in my opinion, be a waste. I'm much happier seeing it to go to a junior who can hopefully use the experience to help progress her career, even if she doesn't win a match this time.

As a Scot, I'm super chuffed that Anna Brogan got through so hopefully she plays well in qualifying :).

I saw on Twitter that Andy congratulated her in person after the match which was a nice touch :D.

I get the impression Lissey's heart is still in singles but the better she and Liv do in doubles the less opportunities she will have to play.

Yup well done. The top seed in this usually tends to be a bit of a cut above as they are often borderline for having got a wildcard anyway, although tend to be a bit higher ranked than Anna is just now. I remember players like Naomi, Tara and EWS breezing through fields in days of yore!

The money will be a huge help to her.

I'm pretty sure I remember Katie boulter losing in semis but getting a discretionary one - which I guess backs up the argument of giving them to youngsters

Congrats to Ella. Whichever way you look at it, that's a very good victory. And especially after the 0 & 0 loss - must feel good

Sorry to bump but an interesting article from Alicia in which she describes the challenges of having a heavy period during pre-qualies:
