If you could view the draw online I'd have posted it by now. But as it is I can't even read what's been posted on my small tablet.

Apologies I wasnt clear, I meant  view the matches online not the draw.

NP. I meant I couldn't read the names in the image posted. And the LTA website often takes hours to update with draws and order of play.

I'd go along with that, although I think Lissey has some tough matches.

Emily could also have a tough time, but Anna and Freya should make it to the final round easily enough.

(And now the girls will prove me wrong !)

I think it's so hard to call with all these promising juniors in the mix. Personally I'd love for Freya and Emily to make it through; they're both low on morale and both played well at Bham qualies. But then there's Hep and Isabelle...

I think that Anna has to be the strong favourite from the top half. The only unknown quantity is Hephzibah who could spring a surprise if she's on it. I don't see Emily troubling Anna if they both reach the semis.

The bottom half is harder to call - Freya must be very strong favourite to get to the semi, but Holly, Emma and Alicia could all make it and all very much capable of beating her.

Only 8 of the field actually have a WTA ranking. I hope no-one gave it a miss purely because they thought they were ranked too low to go for it.

Of our 43 ranked players :

3 are MD DEs
5 are MD WCs
1 is a Q DE ( Maia by her SR )
1 would have been at least a Q DE but is evidently injured ( Fran )
4 are Q WCs ( Ranah isn't yet ranked )
8 are in the Q WC play-offs

And 21 (!) others are not involved ( provisionally suspended, injured, retired, competing elsewhere or some other reason )

So actually if you add Fran to that number then over half of our ranked players are not involved in any way when just having a WTA ranking gave at least a play-offs DE.

It does look as though some assumed they wouldnt get in to the event, which is a shame to miss it. The mens draw is much tougher.  Maybe if the lta put it on the tournament software players could have seen the entry list and would have known their chance of getting in. It looks as though calls were made late yesterday to fill the 16 places.

I dont know how it works but Id hope the lta have someone with a list of all the players ranked in order and their mobiles and at around 4 pm start ringing down the list to encourage them or sign them up. In reality i suspect nothing like this happens and its left as a big fat void!

However what do they gain by being here if they believe that they will not be in the final? Confidence is lacking.

Still no updates on the LTA site with the draw, matches or players, so I guess we'll have to rely on our Google sleuths for results !

For what it is worth I have added the WTA and ITF rankings to the list posted by Lambda

Anna Brogan WR508/2 [1] v Esther Adeshina
Hephzibah Oluwadare UNR/1299 v Ruby Cooling
Alicia Dudeney v Lauryn John-Baptiste UNR/585
Erin Richardson v Emily Appleton WR965/380 [4]

Freya Christie WR542/21 [2] v Ella Mcdonald
Sofia Johnson v Francesca Davis UNR/1809
Holly Hutchinson WR1400/585 v Emma Wilson WR1100/143
Isabelle Lacey WR1177/1478 v Alicia Barnett WR591/120 [3]

For some reason the Lta have decided to add a separate event on to to the portal, which is why nothing is showing on the link I provided earlier.

https://competitions.lta.org.uk/sport/tournament/draw?id=08548C1C-A746-41D3-AECB-9FB4886C7467&draw=5

Despite what the tweet with the OOP on said earlier, there appears to be no WCs in the women's draw.

Looking down the ranking list, and ignoring those that are playing elsewhere, the ones that are missing appear to be Naiktha, Eliz Ali and Dani. Some higher ranked playerss are either concentrating on doubles or are inactive.

 Brilliant, well found !

(I had to re-input the link into the quote as it didn't transfer correctly)

I don't think the LTA really should have the chivvy normal ranked players along and 'encourage' them to come.

It was obvious that this was going to go a LONG way down the ranking lists

If someone like Dani Daley doesn't put herself down (random example), it's not really for the LTA to act as 'mum' and run after her - there's presumably a reason - she's a pro tennis player - completely used to how entry lists work

This is not a public event where you want to ensure a spectacle for the public, or sponsors, or whatever - I doubt the LTA officially even called local players to fill the gap - more likely it was some coach there or something
