Ruby Cooling has started very well and is a break up at 4-2 first set - shes playing a player just outside the top 300.
Saw one of Rubys coaches at Ilkley with her, shes a grass court specialist and a previous Junior Wimbledon champion Noppawan Lertcheewakarn. Good to see them taking the grass court season seriously. Her opponent may be on the back foot for a while here.
Did Lertcheewakarn win Junior Wimbledon one year? I remember her being runner-up to Robbo in 2008.

Runner up in 2008 to Robson , winner in 2009 Beating mladenovic. Was also ranked world junior number 1. Now thats some pedigree.
Really pleased that Nell Miller is back and playing - she's doubling up with Sonay
And Mimi & Ranah are doing a junior sort of pairing, against Naiktha and Maia
Emily WS is in there too
Em and Ingrid didn't get into Notts, so flew to Italy to play a 60k on clay to tick over until the 125k in Gaiba. Didn't get into that so now flying back to the UK (and it's cooler by 20 degrees!) for this one
It's interesting that Ranah and Naiktha are playing doubles, as a first round win will put one of them out the play-offs on Thursday. Perhaps they both know something...
A lot of rather tricky singles draws, qualifier placements were a tad unlucky given other options, but it's a pretty strong field.

I think the draws are fine. Most of our players aren't at $100K level, so they'd be underdogs against almost anyone.
Wickmayer is a bit of a mystery as her best days are well behind her, but was a quality player in her day.
Volynets is a good player, but maybe isn't too comfortable on grass, at least judging by her results.
Rodionova is a tough draw, but Jodie seems to be playing herself back into form on the grass.
Loeb is another good player, but Ranah's already exceeded expectations here.
Waltert has had some good results on clay in the past few months, but Maia must be happy playing someone yet to break the top 200 in the first round of a $100K.
Hartono may be higher ranked, but Sonay seems addicted to winning this year and has home-court advantage. Sonay should be considered favourite.
Mladenovic is obviously a talented player who, like Wickmayer, seems to have left her best tennis in the past. She did just win a $60K last week, albeit on clay. Could take her a while to adjust to the grass, and Yuriko could be just the person to take advantage of that.
Good to see Nell Miller taking part. She is one half of the #1 ranked doubles pairs in the NCAA Division 1 at the nd of the 2021-2022 season and won the Doubles Championship. One to look out for (along with the much-younger Mimi and Ranah)
All the British interest doubles (thought Em and Ingrid might get a Wednesday start to be honest), plus Ranah and Anna's singles tomorrow. Designed to give those likely to need to get to Aorangi the best ability to do so should they not win their match I suppose.
Do we know why Centre Court hasn't started while Courts 2 and 3 are midway through their second matches? Problem with live scores or problem with the surface?

Neither
It's coz there's two men's matches on Centre Court first, before the women
Aidan v Pospisil are in the second set - the women's starts after that finishes

It's a mens and womens event, mens Challenger, and the mens matches are scheduled ahead of the womens on centre court today.
edit - As CD says!

Thank all - perils of only looking at the women's scoring part of the TNNS app. It said 10am start under Ranah's match but no sign of play so I was confused!
