I'd be surprised if Sonay asked for one to be honest. She's never previously played 4 consecutive weeks, and it would be 5 with Eastbourne & Wimbledon. Much better to have a rest.

Very true definitely going with Sonay for Ilkley now though

Been refreshing the page a lot, but seems Sonay vs Jodie is 3rd on Centre Court tomorrow after the 2 men's SF's which start from 11am. The other women's SF follows Naiktha and Maia's doubles which starts at 12pm.

Bet365 currently have Sonay 8/11 and Jodie evens.

Thats a nice win for Naiktha  - seems like Nell will be re-entering the doubles rankings. Been a while since her 10K win dropped off biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Only played one match in Nottingham though.

Half Nell's 2019 title points are still there ( it was in the December ). But just the 5 remaining points left her without a WTA ranking.

Adding 50 for a new total of 55 points rather helps though  Live rankings has her at a big CH 749.

Live rankings also has Sonay at a big doubles CH 667 on 71 points.

 biggrin

Lovely for Maia and Naiktha to make the final - Naiktha is a Yorkshire girl after all - with a bit of Australia thrown in

And, yes, happy for Nell - her singles win at Surbiton, beating Jessica Moore, in a third set tb is still one of my favourite live matches

Tons of breaks, with our girls always behind, but now into a tiebreak - great to see such a big crowd too

I remember seeing Naiktha playing both singles and doubles at Surbiton (pretty sure she was playing with Naomi Broady) and remarking that she seemed SO much more relaxed in her doubles match - played so much better, seemed just more on it, more enjoying it in the doubles, whereas in the singles she'd looked stressed and tight beyond belief

Various bits on livestream that I've seen since seem to back that up

As you say, she's playing some glorious doubles here at times

Terribly tight though - you'd probably put your money on a MTB here...
