It seems extraordinary to me that seven unranked players have made it into the qualis of a 100k event. Plus three of the four wildcards don't have rankings. I cannot understand why so many higher ranked alternates don't even ring to sign in.

Good that Anna Brogan has sneaked into the seeds and is bracketed to play the 7th seed if she comes through her QR1.

Back to play on grass no doubt means that she aims to play in the Wimbledon WC play-offs. So a couple of matches at least here won't do her any harm.

As telstar says, that's an amazing turnout (as in amazingly weak)

Players like Brooke Black, age 14, with zero adult ranking and a pretty low junior ranking, have made it into the qualification draw AS OF RIGHT

Which is nothing against Brooke, I rather like her tennis, but just a comment on the entry list..... in fact, maybe Ilkley is the answer - i.e. too tricky for most foreign players to get to? Because a lot of them foreign players are going to be asking themselves why on earth they didn't inscribe for this - not to mention other British players

Really great to see Esther's name on a draw sheet again

Will be interesting to see how the youngsters do.....

Ilkley difficult ? Its what 15 mins from leeds Bradford airport which Is served by flights from much of Europe via one airline or another. Manchester is maybe 80 mins drive away to Ilkley. as a drive for those in the UK, M1 or A1 to leeds and from there its 15 mins to Ilkley. Shouldnt Be an issue.

We have one sure to get one in Q2 from the Brit on Brit match and Naiktha should also make it, but that may well be all.

Maia, Naiktha and Anna would be the 3 to have a chance. The rest will be lucky to get a set total Id imagine. Once again highlights the lack of depth and worryingly any prospects coming through.

Well, Anna is in an all-GB match, against Fran S, and obviously should/will win that match

Naiktha has a great draw. Yes, good chance for Maia. All three are favourites/firm favourites with the bookies

Although I'm a big fan of a couple of the youngsters (go Ruby, go Dani P), my outsider guess would be for Alicia. She's got a very effective serve on grass and Lulu Sun was looking highly dodgy in qualis at Surbiton. Will be interesting to see how Emma Wilson plays too.

However, not surprisingly, all of them are huge outsides with the betting sites

Not sure re forecast but it is a very sunny but windy day up this neck of the woods, breezy. Im guessing temperature  will be mid teens though tops so not warm really. Typical yorkshire early summers day!

4 points for a win would bring Anna into the top 500

I can see in a 100K it's a stretch to think most of those gb players in qualifying could do much, but I agree with cd above that Alicia could do well, even if not winning today. She reached qf I believe of junior Wimbledon last year and I think played cromer progress tour last week so has got some match play in since coming back from states. When they do get in tournaments will be interesting to see in general  how those at us college do when back this summer.
