Katie served for the first set but two double faults and a very sloppy game and we're 6-6.

Tbf I've never seen Garcia hit the ball this hard this consistently.

Both first serves are crucial.

Big double from Garcia on set point. The first serve looked close to me but there doesn't seem to be any Hawkeye?

She did well to come through that tie-break - raced away to a lead and then saw it chipped away back again

Caro not happy with the first serve linecall on set point

Not a match featuring British players but the 2nd round features the first ever  singles meeting between Ostapenko and Yastremska. Could be a feisty meeting to say the least.

Great win for Katie.
However, without wishing to worry everyone, Jeremy Bates was ever-present through the match. I thought they had stopped working together back in the winter/spring when she won the W80 tournament in Grenoble (is that right?) so that might not be a good development!!

Although could just be a LTA support thing, I suppose (hope).
