Emily Appleton is a strange one here, unless shes in for the doubles primarily.

All except Katie are in on wild cards. Katie and Freya are in the same section.

I really Like Freya and I'd love to see her find some proper form again, but given her record I do wonder how she can keep justifying getting wild cards.

I wonder why Jodie didn't get a wild card given that she was first alt?

I think there is a shortage of women after Beth and Eden in the mid range so its a bit of a struggle to find anyone more worthy. So its perhaps the default ground with Freya who still occasionally can compete higher than her ranking. Hopefully she takes encouragement from Eden and Beth who are on course to hit the 250 spot by year end Id imagine.

Harriet and Katie got the main draw wild cards (+ Krejcikova).

I assume she is playing Ilkley along with Miyazaki and Kartal

Can they still get wildcards for Ilkley if they lose in Birmingham qualifying?

I thought you could only enter another tournament in the second week of a two week tournament. But I may be wrong - others will know the score better than me.

I think they can only take a wild card if they withdraw from the first tournament before qualifying, so can't play two tournaments in the same week.

Katie made a great fist of that set. Tough opponent and coming back off a niggle, really impressive. Although she desperately could do with some points given she can't defend Wimbledon.
