Isabelle Lacy

At age 15, Isabelle Lacy (born 2006) is very well thought of by the LTA and has now zoomed into the adult WTA rankings, at WR 1182, with 11 points, after coming through qualis at the ITF 100k at Surbiton.

A tall, slender girl, with good arm speed, nice technique, and a back-of-the-court game that gets good penetration, there's a lot to like in her game. Comes from Surrey, I believe.

Congratulations to Isabelle Lacy

GB 2023 National Champion U18

She's now got a whole host of guaranteed wildcards, both adult and juniors, to look forward to

And, for Tottenham fans, Eric Dier will be dead pleased

(if people remember back to last year )

Would be great if she could go one better than two of last year's junior girls, Ella and Ranah, who both did so well and took their first round qualifying opponents to three sets and Ella (against Coco Vandeweghe) to a final set tie break. Whatever, it will be a great experience.

I hadn't heard of her, nice run at Surbiton. Is she one to watch?

She's our 2023 Under 18 champion and has a wildcard into Wimbledon Qualifiers, so she's about as good as we've got

Thanks, I'll be interested in how she does in Wimby qualies. I hadn't heard of her, and I had heard of Radders at the same age.

Isa continues to impress, with an amazing win over WTA 138 Golubic, and a loss in a third-set TB to WTA 110 Bolsova

And thanks to that she breaks into the top 600 for the first time

26/06/23

WTA 594 (+58)

Congrats to Isabelle, age 17, who was runner-up in the Wimbledon girls' doubles final, with Hannah Klugman

Isa hasn't been having a great time recently

She made it through qualis and into R2 at the Aussie Juniors Open, which wasn't too shabby

But hasn't played very much juniors since last Wimbly.

Adults has been very skinny though - lots of first round losses and not much to get excited about

However, this morning she clocked up a very nice win in Sharm

So bravo, and let's hope things are looking up

W15 Egypt

R1:- Isabelle Lacy (GBR) def Lamis Alhussein Abdel Aziz (EGY) WR562 [5] 6-2 2-6 6-4

Yes. Good news. She also hasn't had the easiest of draws fairly early on in GSs, playing Maya Joint in the second round at junior AO, who's already won a W35 and W75 this year at 17 and Clervie Ngounoue in the second round at Wimbledon who went on to win the tournament and then afterwards having a back injury and missing out on the junior US Open. I know you have to play who you come up against but draws do make some difference to rankings in the short term, even though I guess that evens out over the longer term.

Hopefully she's been working on her game to make it more robust and suitable for the pro-game, which I'm guessing is where she is looking predominantly nowadays.
