Week 23 - WTA250 - Nottingham, UK Grass

Super  biggrin

Harriet's not had a great time since Indian Wells but I've been a little surprised at how much doubt has been cast by some so soon thereafter and thoughts that she very possibly has had her one week in the top 100.

Indeed, now with nothing to defend after this week before Wimbledon and with only 10 points at last year's Wimbledon she's quite possibly already done enough here to be back in that top 100 post Wimbledon.

She has off days but she is often a fighter who can get pretty good results.

Katie trying to hit winners off serves before she's found any kind of length... Groundstrokes breaking down very quickly on both sides at the minute, and serve not firing. Broken for 2-4.

Katie B - a player in need of of a good coach and a clear direction before time passes her by?

She has the basic ability to be more consistent and generally doing better.

Well Jeremy Bates is never going to be the answer

No he is not.

Katie B should be our number 2 but she needs direction and to stop playing a part time schedule (which I appreciate is not out of choice in most cases!)

His public persona seems to carry such a negative energy, whenever I've seen him in action, but I don't know Jeremy at all, so I may be being unfair

Great result for Harriet after a horrid clay court season and disappointment in Surbiton.

If Jeremy Bates is ever the answer then the question can never be about good tennis.

Sam played really well but she bottled an easy overhead on SP and left it to her partner at the last minute, which was a mistake...

But then did a lovely reflex volley to set up the next SP, which they took

One set all.......

Such a tight tie-break - but Sam and Viv had the match points - couldn't take two of them - but Sam sliced a wonderful shot down the line to take the net player by surprise and hit a clean winner

Brilliant win !

Yay, nip and tuck but they got there and Sam played some great passing shots in the MTB.

Murray Sharan & Heisen win 3-6 7-6(6) [12-10] and are into the SF.

1 more win for Sam to take the top doubles spot (which may become hers anyway, depending on how Tara's situation develops).
