That's a disappointing one - was a great draw. Although appreciate Liv is back from some time out. Double figures will need to wait!

I think (based on a comment elsewhere), Tara might have picked up COVID (or another illness). Hopefully she's back soon.

thanks PaulM, yeah, it was myself who asked. We have two family members (my daughter and son!) with it at home at the moment, seems to be a lot around from what I hear, although it doesnt get reported on anymore).

A real missed opportunity. Are they playing Birmingham or Ilkley next week?

Currently 2nd alts in Bham, so sure they'll get in one way or another.

Good lord, the commentator for Jodie's match is awful. The weak ones always seem to get drafted in for the grass... Best comment so far 'As ever, Jodie playing with a smile on her face' biggrin

Jaysus, that is SUCH utter dross (the commentator comment, I mean). Patronising. And utterly inane. (Not to mention being blatantly not true )

No commentary on Bet365

But a slightly blurry image......

However, Zhang is playing with amazing depth, and Jodie is right in there at the moment, moving well.

Jodie loses the first set.

I've seen Jodie play some really dire tennis and lose the set 2-6 - but this wasn't one of those times

She's playing a woman who's 41 in the world in singles, and WR 4 in doubles !

Zhang has excellent penetration on her shots, and bends well to turn defence into attack

But the score is slightly unfair, it could easily have been 6-3 or 6-4 - Jodie is playing pretty much at the top of her current level

Jodie's definitely taking the game to her opponent which is really heartening. I'd rather see them lose swinging than being passive.

Sorry, typo ( or an unfulfilled hope ), meant 5-4

It's a shame Jodie couldn't quite serve the second set out when she had a chance - she'll be disappointed

But as people have said above, the most encouraging thing about that performance was how positively she played - I was particularly pleased that she barely hit one sliced forehand, no chippy returns of serve, really played good tennis, and went for her shots

Pity Jodie loses the second set, and the match on a tiebreak slugathon. I hope it'll give her confidence though because she was in no way out of place against Zhang.
