Did she get injured in first few games or come out injured?
Someone else might be able to tell you better - I was flicking between Emma and Dan Cox - but I don't think she 'got' injured - from what I could see, it seemed to me like she had some strain in her rib muscles and then tweaked it very early on....
Thing is they do seem to be all separate injuries. Though coming back too soon from any, as she appeared to do after the recent back problem, I imagine can't be helpful and more likely to lead to other injuries as you maybe try to compensate. So yes, at least be clear of the latest issue.
More generally, re Emma's training schedules I wonder how consistent they have been or have regularly been tweaked, as she has gone through her various coaches? I again imagine too much variation could be unhelpful.
A real pity but she is still so young and can certainly afford time out and not to be taking risks chasing things. So not just getting over the latest issue but further time out and really working on strength and fitness may be a good option at some stage?

I've seen it in athletics - sponsors are paying big money for their stars and agents are pressurising athletics to compete when they are not 100% fit.
If you look at Emma's playing schedule over the last few years, she hasn't played a lot of tennis and I suspect her body is not used to the rigours of playing high level tennis week in and week out.

The problem appears to be that she doesn't appear to have a route to getting her body used to the rigours of playing high level tennis week in and week out.
... and this appears to have been a problem for her for ever.
Someone of that age should not be having this many injuries .
Whats going on with her training or lack of .
And she needs to sort out a coach and stop the attitude of I know better and just how much are her parents interfering .
To be fair, her parents are largely responsible for getting her where she is now.
They didn't want to go down the LTA academy route.
And you've got to assume they were right.
Equally, her attitude is very much from her parents, and that's a big asset.
As Iga said, her dad made some excellent decisions, and he made some really poor decisions, but he was 100% acting on her behalf, in the way that a federation is not always (just see how the LTA has treated and badly advised some of its protegees).
So, although I have certain questions too re parental involvement, I think it's rather unfair to point the finger at them.
And I don't think her injuries so far are outside the scope of 'normal' - I don't follow other countries so much but the list of top French juniors who've had a lot of injury problems in their late teens is huge. As others have said, the body needs to develop the toughness. She's just come out and said this was a little 'freak' injury that she's going to get scanned. So maybe it'll turn out to be a nothing. Or a minor thing. Maybe she was being ultra careful, because of Wimbly coming up.

I was sitting courtside. She was clutching her side in the first game. So she either came on with it or it happened in warm-up.
I think there is a larger problem as all our ladies seem quite fragile and prone to injuries. Do the LTA need to look at their training structure? There seems to be a lack of decent conditioning
