Jodie serving for the match now at *5-4, and while I've only started watching from the second set, she's looked very comfortable on serve, and hasn't dropped many points, so hopefully that continues next...
There's a good atmosphere, Jodie getting a lot of support, but Zhu also getting her share.
Holds to 15 , I was fearing that above comment would come back to bite, but she only dropped 4 points in her 5 service games, and one of those was a DF.
That should go a long way to helping with a Wimbledon MDWC, and a brilliant day for the GB girls.

I believe so Crispy. I knew she hadn't had one not so long ago, and hasn't had one recently.
A fair few slips. Didn't realise Zhu had a fall, and just saw Martincova topple over at the business end vs Dodin, but she's battling on, and has a MP.
Didn't realise Heather potentially faced Emma in R2. The draw looks really lop sided on paper to me - that bottom half looks much lot stronger, certainly in terms of grass pedigree.

I think that must be the best I''ve seen Jodie play - certainly for a whole match.
Totally agree. Jodie is always going to be a player who hits big and make errors, but to hold serve immediately after losing break points is a great sign. of course we would like her to snatch these break points, but Im more impressed how she managed to block out the negativity of missing those chances. really impressed
Thats the thing about today. She didn't get down on herself if things didn't go well. She has a great game for grass if she gets it right. I'm not sure I would have given her a MD wild card for Wimbledon but she must be pushing for one now. Maybe the thought of not getting one has helped her focus.

Agreed. Great controlled aggression, hitting her spots with fairly limited unforced errors, and above all a positive attitude.
I'm sure playing in front of a home crowd and boyfriend etc is helpful in terms of this - not only do they make you feel positive, but you don't want to 'behave badly' in front of them!
