The doubles title ( and 140 points ) for top seed Sam ( partnering Lissey ) would see her move just ahead of Tara as GB #1 ranked doubles player. 1076 points to 1075, with both already due to count 130 points from the French Open. Both would be around the WR 80 mark.
I hope that there isn't a serious injury or illness issue for Tara.
13 of the GB top 18 ranked doubles players in the draw. Plus Danielle.

Emily lost 6-3 7-6(4). Pretty poor outing, although Parnaby has quite a nice game for grass. Her first serve must still be in Rabat.
Talia never threatened, but good experience. Out 6-3 6-2.

Flitted between the two matches - disappointed for Emily was very close fought match. Talia struggled somewhat with the slices and chips from her opponent. Good experience as she wont have played a junior with that style of play before.
Caught end end of Em's second set and it was poor fare from both players. Loads of unforced errors.
Em has no pace in her shot and most are landing half way down the court asking to be smashed past her. For a doubles specialist her overhead smashes were poor.
I know everyone saw it all on livestream or wherever but certain things look a bit different close up.
Having spent the day there today, Emily WS just gave her second set away, it was a real shame. I agree with paulisi in that her overheads are SO weak for a woman with a decent serve and who's played lots of doubles - she loves to just push them into open space, but then they bounce up and she gets passed - I've barely ever seen her actually smash one. I don't agree about her forehands though - in fact, I was impressed - she was hitting with a lot more depth and top spin than normal and the balls only ended up short when she was caught by the speed of the other's ball.
In terms of overall quality, it was a far better match than Isabelle v Dani, for instance.
Which was not bad for two basically unranked players. But......
Isabelle has grown a fair bit since I last saw her, nice arm, played quite well, but Dani was above her in the second and should just go and hide in shame with the way she played the tie-break - she doesn't have the proper action for a second serve so her second serve is basically either a normal first serve or a slightly softer first serve - it's wrong. But three double-faults practically one after the other - you might as well just shoot yourself in the foot.
Mind you, if you'd overheard Jeremy Bates' analysis of the match afterwards, you might have thought that Dani was the dog's breakfast - an analysis that was basically an absolute load of baloney, IMHO (although I might be biased ). However, taking the match as a whole, Isabelle deserved to win, was very happy, was signing autographs for all the ballkids, and well done to her.
Talia got utterly trounced. She won't have enjoyed a single bit of that match.
It's difficult to see on screen quite how aggressive her opponent is. Not just her tennis. She's small, with a low centre of gravity, bends very low, lots of dark hair, and lets out a very long, very loud and aggressive sibilant noise when she hits the ball - it's like playing against a very aggressive little insect with a nasty sting. Talia looked completely rocked backwards. But, yes, it'll be experience.
I would also like to report that, having seen Jodie and Freya practicing together, Freya actually knows how to hit a top spin deep drive - on forehand and backhand - who'd have guessed? Sarcasm aside, it's just so frustrating but you never know, one day maybe it'll click.

Glad you got down CD and appreciate the insight. Hope the rain didn't spoil things too much
It came right on lunchtime (if you like your lunch quite early) so the first hour was fine. The second hour was a bit more of a pain but it's very nice inside the marquee thingy, comfortable, reasonably warm, and lots of players hanging around so quite fun to watch - the Aussies, as normal, were on very good form and entertaining
