Week 22 - ITF W100 - Surbiton, GB Grass

Rematch of the Nottingham W100 final last year where AVU won to seemingly deny Rodionova the (unwritten) final Wimbledon MDWC which ended up going to Samsonova after her great week in Berlin. Normally I prefer these competitions ensure the Wimbledon WCs remain 'in house', but with Heather and Harriet in automatically, it will be quite hard to think of more than 6 British candidates, so I'd probably prefer Rodionova to win as she has had a great week, can obviously play on grass, and I'd prefer a somewhat earned MDWC rather than just going next in like they often do.

AVU won the final 0 and 4 last year, so will be a clear favourite, especially being much higher ranked, but Rod did come through qualifying last year, and had a 3 hr 17 min SF the day before, so may be in a better position to make it more of a match this year.

Jodie did have a bit a bit of luck this week with the Buz retirement and Kozlova/Baindl having to play two singles matches the day before, but definitely something to build on, and a good opportunity in R1 of the W250 since she beat Zhu this week, and a potential main draw win vs a top 100 player, on top a SF here would put her in good stead for a Wimbledon MDWC.

Yes Jodie has won Buzernescu heavily taped and visibly upset as she leaves the court. Jodie looks a bit down about it as well to be fair. With Brengle out its a great opportunity for Jodie but Coco got to be heavy favourite for the title now.

Well, I picked out Alison Van U earlier on this week (although I hadn't even seen Coco so it's not based on much) but I'll stick with her over Coco.

(Although I seriously hope Jodie causes a mega upset and puts her out)

Your woman let you down, Jaggy - that's life biggrin

 Was Camila Giorgi playing?
