Hmm... that could be problematic. I would have expected all 4 of these to be in Nottingham qualifying either directly or with a WC, so they could miss out if still in at Notts sign in deadline tomorrow.

I see there are 2 rounds of doubles tomorrow.

Can't they just phone sign in? Obviously that would still be a problem for whoever reaches the final, but shouldn't it be OK for the rest?

Most ITF's have sign-in by phone - so I would expect Nottingham to do it as well (not sure as it is a WTA event)

Big argument in Sam and Lisseys match. Looks like they called the referee.

Gutted I missed the drama! But the girls are through in two close sets. Would be very happy to see them take the title this week.

They need to at least reach the final to improve their points tally.

Would that be enough to get Lissey into the Top 100?

Sure they can. I wasn't trying to suggest they needed to be physically on site. That would be impossible for all of them unless they've got a helicopter. The point I was failing miserably to make was that I didn't think that they would be allowed to sign in if they were still competing at the sign in deadline. But on checking the WTA rulebook, they can still sign in if their next match in the tournament they are still competing in is no later than sign in deadline day, but they would be subject to fines if they couldn't play. That the SF is also scheduled today helps in that regard for the winners of the QF. So, in other words, forget i said anything.

According to Coric, Lissey's lowest counter is 48 and the semi-final is worth 50 points. Those two extra points would take her to WR100. But she does have a 78 point counter dropping off later this month.

Jodie will get a wild card for Notts - Heather and Harriet are in the main draw now.

I understand why these withdrawals happen but it's frustrating. Does confirm though how much of a doubles ranking comes down to luck to be honest.

Lissey and Sam take the first set vs Naiktha & Freya by 7-5

So the second seeds beat the late call-up young alts Francesca Davis & Jessica Matthews 6-1 7-5 and then have had 2 walkovers into the final.
