On serve 3-2 in the second; I think Sonay still has a shout.
Brengle's serve is weak (her feet don't leave the ground); Sonay could definitely attack it a little more I think.
I wondered what her serve was like, as i noticed Brengle has been around 80% first serves in for most of the match, any decent serve on grass will make it hard for opponent to break.
Having submitted I then noticed Sonay has broken to go *4-3 up.

I think the percentage is so high because it's basically a starter shot. Very low risk.
Brengle is the one who filed a lawsuit against the WTA etc for injury to her shoulder, leaving her unable to serve, because of some rare medical condition re needles. She certainly can't serve - she just rolls it in with a very weird action, because her shoulder basically doesn't work
L16: (1) Madison Brengle (USA) WR 57 (CH 35 in 2015) beat (WC) Sonay Kartal WR 284 (=CH) by 6-3 6-4
L16: Kateryna Baindl (UKR) WR 143 (CH 62 in 2018) vs (WC) Jodie Burrage WR 260 (CH 204 in March this year)
Baindl completed a 3rd set TB win over Sabine Lisicki today. I assume that they will try to play this L16 match today. Not as yet showing on the ITF site schedule.
Watched most of the second set on t.v which is the first time I've really seen sonay play. Thought she seemed very happy just to put the ball back and seemed a little negative. Not sure if that's her usual game?
Will be interesting to see how Sonay does against a Top 100 player for the first time.
Not well. She lost 3-6 4-6
Hardly that badly scoreline-wise vs the WR 57 .
Though it does appear that it was maybe more of an opportunity than that ranking suggests and Sonay might have got more our of that match.
Sorry Indiana . I don't really understand this. Are you saying that she played well? A top 100 player can be anyone fron 1 to 100 and if she is given a wildcard
for Wimbledon then she would meet someone from that category and on grass. From what we have seen so far she needs more practice on the grass and against
top ranked players before we can make our minds up.
