Weeks 21 & 22 - French Open (Roland-Garros) - Paris, France (clay) - women's doubles

Surprised no body has commented on Tara and Emina pulling out - any one seen any news saying why?

Alicia & Olivia will be first alts now if they're kicking around and still 16 first round matches still to play (only takes 1 player out of 64 to pull out).

I think they're already back home on the grass.

Well they should have been in Paris as there was a walkover in the last first round match so they would have got in.

Patience would have been a virtue. What a miss!

Yes, pretty stupid choice if you ask me. I assume in total there were quite a few withdrawals but it was always possible. Pity.

I guess no-one has any news and hence no comments. What a big disappointment for them not to be able to even get to court.

Great doubles final, with an 'interesting' backstory

France is thrilled, and very noisy, as Kiki and Caro take the title, as wildcards.

This is 6 years after they won it previously.

More importantly, maybe, it's after the two of them had a VERY public, VERY cantankerous, VERY bitter falling out, all to do with tennis, the Davis Cup, the FFT, a whole heap of other things - which basically led to the two of them not speaking for several years.

But this year they decided to 'make up' and be friends

 Bless.

Some day indeed, CD.

I was aware of a fair amount of the backstory but had completely missed that they were back together and even playing together here, let alone through to the final. I just knew that Gauff had made a second final but certainly not that that Kiki & Caro were on the other side of the net.

They did play together in the AO this year, but neither of them have played a lot of doubles over the last couple of years. Great to see them playing together again and enjoying it so much.

I get the impression that Kiki is highly strung (pun intended )
