I cettainly don't see any Scotland / UK divide here. To me, Paul ( who I believe is Scottish! ) was just pointing out that overall it wasn't the strongest of W25s and was well chosen, and he still called it a huge achievement. And, as some of us have certainly said, she still beat very decently ranked seeded players.
Just be savouring Anna's success, Jaggy. You did tell us success was coming!

For reference, Anna beat 3 x top 400 players here, and a combined ranking of 3,233.
To win her Nottingham title, Eden beat 0 top 400 players, albeit with a combined ranking of 2,872.
For Beth's first 25k in December she beat 4 x top 400 players, and a combined ranking of just 1,855.
Sonay beat 2x top 400 players in each of her Nottingham wins.
In short, Anna has done extremely well this week, and I see no real evidence that she had an easier ride than Sonay or Eden who stayed on home soil. Congrats!
Yes well there were over 30 players ranked higher than her so thats still a massive achievement. Aware the original poster is Scottish, lets just say we couldnt be further apart on outlook when it comes to sharing of distribution and fairness.
But yes lets enjoy the win and more in the pipeline.
I think there is little in truth dividing you here, unless searched for, other than Paul simply questioning the overall quality of the tournament as a W25 for just a little balance ( as distinct to Anna's particular wins and how others' rankings compared to hers ).
Well done Anna. You can only beat who is on the other side of the net, and this was some good scheduling that's paid off. Huge achievement.
Very strange initial comment this Ive got to say. Had it been EWS there would be cartwheels no doubt. She beat the number 2 seed and several players ranked above her by some distance. But then she is going against the grain with the Tennis bodies so maybe thats why.
Anyway onwards and upwards, two more 25ks here. I also note Maia is playing abroad as well initially. There certainly seems to be a Scotland/UK divide developing. Mind you Andy and Jamie experienced that as well, did it for themselves and that worked out fine.

Ffs this place sometimes is beyond pathetic. It's a phenomenal win in not exactly a loaded 25k (same as we all agreed Notts were weak). That's just a basic fact, she took a risk scheduling to come out here, and I'm beyond delighted it's paid off by racking up some big points. Hopefully the next 2 weeks are as fruitful.

really happy to see Anna winning her first 25k. yes Definitely a good choice to play overseas while so many in the UK events on the grass over the coming weeks - but good for her its definitely pating off.

What tosh!
Judy Murray seems to agree, thinly veiled dig at the authorities in her tweet highlighting the lack of support. Go Judy
I like Judy and I like that she fights for more facilties in Scotland.
Doesn't mean that there is any particular Scotland / rest of UK divide. Perhaps more a South of England / rest of UK divide in some tennis matters? Plus still too much elitism.

Good to see that this triumph for Anna got her the first nomination (and her first nomination ever) for June player of the month. Only player nominated so far.
ps Im in Edinburgh today and yesterday - its a wee bit grey and drizzly (what constitutes dreek, I suspect its more than that?) , we are staying on a boat hotel down in Leith and planning a little trip round the Brittania before repatriating my daughters stuff from Uni and a nice long drive home - the borders drive from Edinburgh to Jedburgh and down to Hexham has to qualify as a real drivers drive, I love that road!
