Anna had taken the first set 6-3

but is now 0-3 down and there is an MTO. Hope that if she is the one in need of medical attention that it is only something minor and can be sorted quickly

MTO was for Lapko I believe but even still great run.

Anna being coached by Esteban Carrill suggests there are high hopes for her which is a good sign. My top 400 by year end look more and more likely now

Hope you're right. Anna certainly seems to have stepped up a gear biggrin

Interesting match today. Kung was runner up to Swiatek at Wimbledon Jr's in 2018 and later went on to make a full WTA final, but has been on one of the worst runs you'll ever see, certainly relatively, these past 15 months or so. Before this week, she had lost 38 of her last 43 matches, no back to back wins in that period, and was 1-14 in 2022. Maybe some signs of a revival this week, but the match is pretty much 50/50 with the bookies, with Anna a very, very slight fave at most.

Superb !!

Will be into the top 600, at about 580 on Monday week, and a win in the final would see her smash her CH ( achieved in 2015 as a 17 yo ) and be up to about 510.

I sure didn't see this week coming now or in the near future. Great that it has. Go, girl!

Yes, superb LTA strategy of keeping make her go through qualifying has helped her along. Annoying if she now has to skip qualifiers
