I don't understand how Amelie Brooks is a direct acceptance, while Ellie Blackford, who is above Amelie on the alt list is a wild card.

Does look a bit odd doesn't it. But then Ellie is the only wild card, so perhaps she was given it and didn't return it when she didn't need it. Anyone got any ideas ?

 Yep, the website confirms the four of them are in the main draw with wildcards:
