I think that Alex has been struggling with a leg injury since the start of April [he had it in Valencia] and it's hampered him quite a bit in his matches in Cardiff and Lanzarote, I think it's been affecting his movement.
I'm not surprised that he's pulled out of Prague, it's best to give the injury another week's rest as there's a lot of physical wear and tear involved on clay. It's best that he gets the injury some rest ahead of RG qualies and the grass court season which are both going to be really important points-wise.

I don't think Alex would have been able to get a top 16 seed even if he had played on Prague, the entry list is out and he's just sneaked into the seeds at no 29. As far as I know, I think that entry list is final. I don't think they alter it if the rankings of the players on the list change between the time when the list is released and the actual event.
I wonder if he might be better off skipping the clay court season all together. With the best will in the world, he won't win too matches on the dirt, and qualifying for RG doesn't make that much sense unless has he's played some clay ourt tournaments before hand. I don't think Alex has ever won a clay court match at challenger level, anyway! His last clay court victory was exactly two years ago and at that was at F2 in Edinburgh. Perhaps he should just get the injury fixed and work on being the best prepared player for the grass court season. With 7 consecutive grass tournaments, he'll be kept busy!
he did manage to beat simon gruel in the 1st round of RGQ last year which was quite impressive, he's down for zagreb, i guess he will decide during the week if he's up for it,
i think he will go to RGQ regardless as its good money, he will still get some time to practice on grass b4 surbition

You are right about the prize money, I had no idea it was so much! 1,800 Euros for losing in the first round! He could reduce his travel costs by getting a cut rate 24 hour return.....
it will be interesting to see how alex plays on the clay now, his game seems to have lifted this year so would be great if he can carry that through, a fews wins on clay may leaving him feeling great for the grass too in a way.

Wow, 1,800 euros for losing in rd1. I might try and buy a wildcard, 1,000 euros should be more than enough to bribe the RG authorities and I'd have 800 euros profit at the end of that
Dont they change it for seeding just like they do it in the main draw??
I think you'll find they do, yes. i.e. Who's playing in RG qualifying is now fixed (except for QWCs and Alts possibly getting in if players withdraw) but the seedings for RG qualifying will be based on the rankings at the time the qualifying draw is made.
