Eliz and Alice being in the same qualifying section is arguably less than ideal. Presumably one of them will qualify from that all British section.

So we've got the U14s are out in force again. But I'm pleased that Ruby has a slightly more playable match than last week. And Brooke does too. And Paulina plays a decent-ish game and also has one of the better draws.
Not saying I see any of them actually winning but all's possible - and good luck to the other juniors too - Jaqui, Given and Fran.

Maia, Freya and Emma Wilson look like they have wildcards - not sure on the 4th. Mimi presumably has used up her wildcards.

But you're entitled to an extra wildcard if you win in a previous tournament playing under a wildcard, no?

So Mimi must have an extra one after last week, no?

That said, I'd be very happy if she took a break......

So, there's been no big upsets but - looking on the bright side, and partly thanks to the better draws mentioned above - our rank outsiders have definitely posted better results than last week:

Paulina lost 2 & 4

Amy Leather won a set but lost in the MTB

Given lost 6-1 7-6(6)

Fran lost 2 & 3

Abigail lost 3 & 3

Jaqui O lost 0 & 4

BUT....... our Ruby is into a MTB - so allez !

Shame, not to be for 14 year-old Ruby

But this was a close match, and one that will have been useful for her, against a ranked player, so all good

Ruby plays really well for 14! Serve forehand and backhand all good shots, she'll be a pro one day. Fights but gets a bit down on herself. Her parents left at 2-3 second set and then she won 6-4.

Katie Dyson has a nice backhand slice, can mix it up with a short angle or drop shot but lacks a forehand to finish off the point.

Given Roach is coached by Joss Rae.

Jesus Andre Lukosiute is tall and strong. Takes a bloody age to serve it, speed of play painful.

Thanks, Wolf.

So glad to hear that Ruby impressed. I've been watching her with interest this year - a lot to like, I reckon. Love the parents story

Given has some serious technical issues, IMO.

Just maybe don't question Given's coaching. Joss Rae is a big lass!

Ive heard similar stories about Rubys parents . Very intense, But this is seen far too often in the Junior Circuit.

Eliz has just lost to Alice. Very poor result for her though I guess it's a good one for Alice.
