Yes, absolutely, jb, it's a good point.

And a key question that they all have to consider at the start of the year when doing their provisional schedules.

Serena Williams was very much for it, and it didn't do her ranking any harm

It's all a question of degree, I guess, but it is a little caveat in my mind..... maybe wrongly.....

Yes for sure. I do think there is sometimes a mentality of 'just keep trucking' and 'maybe next week will be better...' where we see players just go on and on and on week in week out. Which brings to mind the idea of 'doing the same thing and expecting different results'.

That said, I remember when Mel South broke the top 100 she almost immediately took off a couple of months as a fitness block, and then never really regained form again. And then there's the fact that when you're training you're not earning. So I guess it's all about balance and nuance as you say.

Sonay 3-0 up serving, double break. For what it's worth her utr is about 0.2 higher than her opponents, often not a bad indication of likely outcome. What were the odds before the match?

Just to prove the 'slow start, strong finish' theory wrong, Sonay storming on!

5-1*

Yes, rather concerning for Stollar if this is just Sonay warming up.

Was mto for stollar at 3-0* to Sonay. Now Sonay 4-1*, having done well to hold from 15-40 in last game.

I didn't realise it was a MTO but Stollar left the court so it must of been for her. And now she has retired.

Not the way you want it to happen but good to see Sonay in a final again.

Average 1.53 (Sonay) vs 2.35. So Roughly 1/2 vs 11/8

Early odds are 1.45 (Sonay) vs 2.52 Lao for the final tomorrow.
