Good start from Talia - not surprised as I saw the other girl in qualifying and Lauryn should have kept it closer.
Talia looks like the leading GB junior on the WTA tour, but only ranked 5 or 6 in the junior rankings. Funny how things work out.
Yes and no
Talia is our number two/three junior on the WTA tour - behind Matilda and about the same as Jasmine
And her points are all from that one wonderful run early this year in Birmingham in what was a pretty weak 25k event (which is not to take anything away from her) and here is drawn against a qualifier who - as you rightly say - is pretty poor. In terms of match, it wasn't a patch on Ranah who was playing a top-500 player yesterday. Again, no cirticism, she played a good match and did what needed to be done.
But draws make a lot of difference and it's very early days.
However, great to see her playing good adult tennis, at the level, and doing well.

Hear what youre saying but Jasmine was in the Birmingham event and failed to qualify and as for weak, it had players ranked 140, 150s, 180s, etc talia beat players ranked in the 300s as well as players who beat the higher players. So a bit harsh. I have An older daughter who found the transition from junior to womens tough and eventually stopped playing altogether. I think we should celebrate these youngsters giving it a good go. Its not easy studying, going to school and trying to become a tennis player especially against women for whom it is their full time career.
I'm 100% with you, Tennisdad. She's doing very well. My point is that she's not head and shoulder above the rest just because she happened to have one excellent tournament and beat a qualifier here. My comment was more about the rest, not about Talia.

Sorry CD, but Talia has stepped up big time.
This is her 4th Senior event:
Loughborough - came through qualifying. But lost in Rd 1 to Gimbrere
Birmingham - lost to Sonay in the final and beat Zaja, Palicova, Owen and Kempen en route
Nottingham - injury, but gave the winner I real fright
This week - into Rd 2 and potential to go quite deep.
Some people find it easy to step up, some struggle to adapt. It might be a mental think. Who knows.
It's great to see juniors stepping up and transitioning well.
I'm certain that Mimi, Isabelle,Ella, Hep and possibly Ranah will all have WTA rankings by the end of the summer.
