The wind is SO strong today

You'd think that could favour Eden

She's older and more experienced

And she likes to come into the net which, especially if done with the wind behind you, i.e. the opponent is playing into the wind, could be really useful

Real shame - Lauryn and Alice looked reasonably in control for that TB but actually ended up losing it (horrible dumped service return by Alice at 5-4

The Anglo-Franco girls had two chances to break back at the end of the second but Lauryn put her return long and then played way too tenatively, didn't put away a volley and then netter another.

Shame. They had a great run, and had definite chances, it was very close, but ultimately lost.

I'm not sure my wind theory was the reason why but the result went that way whatever, which is all that matters.

It was a real dogfight in the first - Eden was miles behind. But I think coming back and taking that set rather took the wind out of the sails of the Japanese girl and the second set was a lot easier.

Well done, Eden. Super to see her doing well in singles again - the 'plan' to withdraw in dubs in R1 and concentrate on singles obviously paid dividends

I think I'm correct in saying that Eden's last and only 25k final was at the Wirral, where she lost to Sam Murray in straight sets

Think that was a 15k, don't think she's ever made a 25k final before.

Big summer for Eden you feel, got to be aiming for top 300 minimum for year end.

I've almost given up trying to predict anything about what Eden is going to do, or should do, or whatever.
I've had her in my Top Ten Tennis Predictions thing at least twice, and each time she's had a pretty lousy year in singles.

My questions are about her are not whether she's more committed to doubles (it's true, there seems times when you think, OK, she's really gone and done it, it's now doubles for her).

But the real big thing is that she seems to go AWOL for large chunks. Not injured (based on social media). Just not playing. Maybe she just paces herself (a bit like Sonay?). But it's slightly weird.

NB I know that Robin is very talented. But she's the overwhelming favourite with the bookies, which I thought was rather surprising.

Eden was only 3.8 last night on Bet365 (has come in to 3.4 which is understandable). But still quite long.
