Does anyone have any inkling as to why Sonay is not playing here?

I know she has a very invidualistic tournament planning schedule

And that she's on the list for next week

But why not here?

Ummmm the Sonay who is playing the BJK tie in a few days, that Sonay?

That might be the one........ hmmmm ...... or her twin sister........ good point biggrin

(I never follow BJK - nor Davis Cup - nor all the variations on a theme)

Sorry, flamingowings ! smile

There are four Indoor Courts.

They are playing outdoors.
Mona Barthel has fallen by the wayside. Her groundshots are great, but her movement is awful. She must be carrying an injury

She is definitely not happy to be there! biggrin

Although I feel like I remember seeing her way back maybe in 2009 at Shrewsbury or similar and she was just as grumpy then...

Mona won, but Eliz pushed her hard.

There was a casualness to her today almost like "urgh, can't believe I'm here" type attitude. Wouldn't want to be her coach...

Caught a couple of games from Emma when she won the second set and was playing well. Shame she couldn't pinch the third.
Saw some of Lauryn's match and Jana was really playing well and Lauryn was never really competitive in set 1.

As I said on Mens thread, managed to get along here.

Saw Eden Silva win pretty impressively. She hits it well off both sides, was the aggressor throughout and got in to the net and put away volleys whenever the chance arose. Her opponents greatest strength was her chasing and the strength of Silvas groundstrokes ran the legs and the spirit out of her and the second set was very much a procession.

Also watched second set of Jean- Baptistes game and thought she battled really well against a good quality opponent. She hits it well and moved pretty well, probably goes for shots a little too often and hit a few wide when she might have been hetter to try and stay in the rally. But all in all she showed great fight and with a bit of luck she could have broken again in the second set.

Thanks again for the insights Topemp

Eden is on my list of top three 'under-performers' at adult level

Such an elegant, powerful game, and some super results, but never strings them together, and just seems to go AWOL at times...

Maybe we need an equivalent of 'Special Measures' for schools, but for under-performing players...if you have potential but you're lagging, you get an injection of LTA support for say 6 months with a new coach etc......

Talia had a MTO at 5-2 Up in the second set, pulled glute or hamstring. Been told she Was holding it in the game before, shame as she had momentum winning the last 3 games to go to 5-2 so had momentum. Lost the next 5 games. Hope its not a serious  injury. Great effort though
